My daughter had a birthday last this week. The menu for her dinner was Five-Spice Pork (Better Homes and Gardens August 1997), Edie's Macaroni Salad, Broccoli Salad (from Trisha Yearwood). and for dessert Black and White Mille Crepe. I must say everyone enjoyed the meal, even the broccoli salad! Kudos Trisha! The pork was nice and moist. I purchased the family pack at Wegmans for $2.99/lb. The broccoli salad was a nice change. I added the raisins the recipe called for, however, when I purchased this from the old A&P, I think their's had craisins; so I may try that the next time. I didn't have the sunflower seeds so I added chopped walnuts for some texture. The Black and Mille Crepe cake was delicious, however, I prefer the Gateau de Crepes that I have made previously for my daughter's birthday. I think the richness of the pastry cream made the crepe cake more decadent. Perfect for a celebration. Needless to say, as of Monday, there are no leftovers. One piece was saved for her sister-in-law and delivered to her on Long Beach Island. Index
