Finally, we had our hamburger tasting last Saturday night. My brother was down overnight and my son and his girlfriend were part of the tasting too. We sampled Vrola 6 oz. USA choice cut hamburgers (85% lean) that I purchased from Delicious Orchards, LaFrieda Original Blend burgers (flat iron, brisket and short rib beef from American Black Angus Beef) and Schweid & Sons C.A.B. All American Burgers (made with certified Angus beef both) purchased at Shop Rite at Wall Town Center.
I made sure to that each purveyor’s product was properly tagged so that I could accurately record our preferences. The burgers were cooked for 6-7 minutes per side and were served on plain potato hamburger buns. Three of the individuals selected LaFrieda Original Blend Burgers as their number one pick with Vrola as a runner up and two selected Vrola Choice Cut Hamburgers as their number one and LaFrieda as their number two. Unfortunately, Schweid and Sons didn't even place in our tasting. The panel based their decision on taste and texture of the beef.
