Every summer when our children were younger, I would a purchase sack of corn from Delicious Orchards (42 ears). With the help of my husband we would husk, blanch and then cut the kernels off the cobs to have and freeze it in our small freeze in the basement to enjoy summertime corn all winter long.
Back in August 1984 a recipe for white corn chowder appeared in Buon Appetit magazine. It's been a long time since I've made this soup. However, when I was at Delicious Orchards the other day, I purchased some corn. I've tweaked the recipe to reflect some of the things I've learned from watching various cooking shows on public broadcasting channels. I hope you give the recipe a try. It does take some to prepare, however, anything worthwhile in life does require some time and effort.
