Today is the final day of my special diet. Since I can only have clear liquids, I decided to head down to Joe Leone's Italian Specialities in Point Pleasant Beach to pick up something for my husband's for supper. The cases of prepared items is almost overwhelming. There was a case with a assortment of olives, followed by a case that had mozzarella in various shapes and sizes prepared in different salads or layered with tomatoes. The prepared food cases have the daily specials along with "Joe's Classic Collection" and "Joe's Classic Gluten Free Collection," which are available every day. The bone-in chicken with hot cherry peppers and potatoes looked scrumptious as did the linguine with fava beans, mint and ricotta. However, a quick call to my husband lead me to the eggplant pie. The pie is made in a 4" foil pie pan. The pie has a crust which followed by alternating layers of eggplant and ricotta covered in tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. The first time I purchased this, my husband and I shared it and it was more than enough for two.
I also noticed that today's bread special was jalapeno cheddar cornbread and hazelnut ciabatta. Can you imagine French toast made with the hazelnut ciabatta! There is also a case which has assorted cold cuts, a case with prepared sandwiches and salads, an area for sandwiches preparation and bakery. It's almost too much to take in one visit, or like me two visits. I will return. Index
