On Sunday's, The Grand Tavern has a special menu, Sunday Backyard BBQ, which is served from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. My daughter tried the Fried Chicken Sandwich ($10) and I had their Lobster Roll ($15) plus we shared a side of fries ($3). My daughter also gave their Bloody Mary a go.
The chicken had a tempura coating which was perfectly fried to a golden brown and crunchy. With the toppings and ranch dressing it was very tasty. The lobster roll was delicious. They were very generous with the lobster and it had a light dressing of mayo. I would have preferred a more traditional New England roll, however, this was the chef's interpretation of a lobster roll. The fries looked hand cut and the portion was generous for two. The menu us small at the Grand Tavern, but as such wonderful offerings such as skirt steak ($30) with roasted bone marrow, fingerlings, salsa rosa and parsley. A 36 oz. dry a côte du beouf for two ($100) that comes with fries, asparagus with Caesar Hollandaise and Parmigiano. The Grand also offers house made ricotta cavatelli ($14) and agnolotti ($16) as small plates. I hope to be back soon with my husband to give their dinner items a try. Index
