Just an update on my dill pickles that I made using a recipe from the Good Housekeeping Test Kitchen. The pickles were delicious. It was a quick and easy recipe. With so few ingredients, homemade pickles will be a welcome treat for your family this summer. Whether serving on a hot, steamy night for supper or for a brunch, this delicious frittata takes full advantage of fresh herbs which makes this egg dish so tasty.
Recently The New York Times in their “Here to Help” column a recipe for Spicy Black Bean and Sweet Potato Chili; it sounded interesting. For the recipe you’ll need coconut or vegetable oil, yellow or red onion, kosher salt, pepper, fresh garlic, light brown sugar, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, orange juice, chipotles, adobo sauce, sweet potatoes, black beans, crushed or diced tomatoes (fire-roasted if possible), lime juice and frozen corn.
As a person that loves to cook and blog, I find it necessary to seek out and try new recipes. My lucky husband rarely gets the same meal twice, except for his pasta, which is required weekly. With this in mind, I delved into my extensive files (I have them sorted by category in plastic file folders) and came across a recipe from Delicious Orchards. The recipe must be over 20 years old and is from the fall/winter season. One side of the sheet has recipes for acorn and butternut squash (I’ve made the baked squash and apple casserole, delish!) and the other, spaghetti squash. The recipe that they gave was for spaghetti squash casserole. Although, not quite technically “pasta” for my husband, he has a new fondness for spaghetti squash.
